Submitted by admin on Friday, February 5 2010No Comment

vitamin-DA large national clinical trial testing doses of Vitamin D and fish oil supplements is currently recruiting 20,000 older adults to examine the impact of Vit D and omega-3 fatty acids from fish oil supplements.

The study will be divided into 4 sections: one group will take Vit D supplements, two will take either a Vit D or fish oil supplement along with a placebo, and the fourth group will take 2 placebo pills.

Vitamin D is actually considered a prohormone and plays a part in the immune system and plays a role in reducing inflammation and of course is an integral part of maintaining bone health. Researchers will see if there is a link between Vitamin D levels and heart disease and cancer.
