I am pleased to report that I received a ‘phone call and an email from Kacey Bogue, a senior hospitality representative at Pizzeria Uno about yesterday’s article. I reported what I felt to be a misleading practice of not clearly stating that the calorie counts quoted on their menus were for more than one serving size.

The items they were touting as “Less than 500 Calories” would only be true if you didn’t eat the whole thing. By that reasoning, I could put a large picture of a hot fudge sundae in the dessert section under the heading of “Less than 200 calories” and the average person wouldn’t realize that it only applied if you ate 25% of it.

But in fairness, at least Uno responded and responded quickly saying that my comments were being shared with the “nutritionist and the executive chef for their review”.

Now’s the time to make your voices heard if you think that Uno’s portrayal of calorie counts is misleading – it may just make a difference. Here’s their link - be sure to click on “contact us” to email them.
