College Students: Improve Test Scores With the Flu Vaccine

Ok, the headline might seem like a stretch but in fact, college students were 47% less likely to score poorly on exams according to Dr. Kristen Nichol,one of the authors of this study and chief of medicine at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center.

Obviously, the more students who get immunized, the more the “herd effect” kicks in. This means that the more people who get immunized – and this works for all vaccinations – the less likely it is for the disease to spread. Obvious right? So in essense, the people who get vaccinated, protect those who do not.

The take-home message is that vaccinations work and the more people who get them, the less chance there is for disease to spread.
